Ape Survival is running a limited Give-Away for their new Survival Grenades (you still have to pay the S&H).
I picked a couple up for myself and played around with it. This review is to help you decide if you should grab some for yourself.
What is a Survival Grenade?
This is the first question you might be thinking so here it is…
A survival grenade is a mini survival kit designed to literally take with you wherever you go. The way it is wrapped makes it look like a paracoord grenade, hence the name. There are different mini-survival kits, but this one is unique in several ways.
Whats inside the Survival Grenade?
When you open up your Survival Grenade, this is what you get. It looks just like a paracord grenade decoration and nothing more until you see what’s inside.
To unwind it, you find the end at the bottom of the grenade and begin unraveling the paracord.
It has these 15 different types of survival tools all packed into one:
- Fishing hooks x2
- Fishing Line
- Weights x2
- Floats x2
- Swivels x2
- Flint rod
- Alcohol Pad
- Tin Foil
- Knife blade
- Iron Wire
- Fishing Lure
Here’s what it looks like when taken apart.
1. You can take this anywhere.
A lot of mini survival kits make this claim. With this one, you can literally put it into the smallest compartments or clip it onto any bag, jacket or even a belt loop.
2. Good quality.
I tested most of the contents for durability and performance and was pleasantly surprised. A lot of crappy discount survival gear has flooded the market and given people a false sense of preparedness. The Survival Grenade is overall good quality and most importantly, it will work when you need it.
This is currently a promotional give-away so you’re not going to get something high tech. But you will get something that is simple, good quality, and durable.
3. Small size
Any EDC item needs to have a low profile. This mini-survival kit truly is small and compact.
Right now you can get it for just the cost of shipping. Eventually they’ll have to charge for it but you can’t beat free.

5. Hide in plain sight
If you’re like me, you don’t want everyone knowing that you’re carrying survival gear. At first glance this looks like nothing more than a novelty item or a decoration. You can literally keep this survival kit hidden in plain sight without anyone knowing what it really is.
1. No self-defense capability
This was not designed with defense in mind so you will need something for protection. A lot of people carry a tactical pen for every-day defense and this is a good idea with the Survival Grenade.

2. Pain to put back together
To use any of the survival gear you must unwind the paracord. Putting it all back together is a pain. If you get one of these, only use it when you need it so you don’t have to try to wind it back up again.
The Survival Grenade can be an essential EDC item that you can carry with you wherever you go. Its so small and lightweight that only you will know what it actually is.
To be clear, this is not something that will come close to replacing a bug-out-bag. But it is something to take with you when you are in town, at work, or traveling.
I recommend one for every adult in the family as something they can have with them at all times. Once it arrives, don’t open it up like I did. You can come here and see what it looks like inside so you don’t have to go through the hassle of putting it all back together.
As I’ve said several times, you can get these for just the cost of S&H but this won’t last forever. After that I expect the company to charge full price so I recommend getting them now.
