Power a Flashlight With One Battery

So what happens when your flashlight needs two batteries and you only have one?

There is a simple, 30-second solution to this problem and literally every household will have the supplies needed to try this survival hack.

Here’s what you need:

  • Flashlight
  • One battery
  • Tin foil

Now here are the steps that you take to power your flashlight.

Step 1:

Tear off a piece of tin foil about 12-18 inches long.

Start folding the tin foil long ways until it is slightly wider than the battery.

Step 3:

Start at one end and roll the tin foil so it is about the same shape as the battery.

Drop the battery into the flashlight.

Step 5:

Now drop in the battery shaped tin foil. Make sure that when you screw on the light the tin foil touches the metal part of the light bulb connector.

Step 6:

Turn on your flashlight and do what you need to do.

Now this survival hack will work, but as you can see from the pictures below the light is not as bright as if you used two batteries. However, in a bind this will give you some light.

Conclusion
Left – powered with 2 batteries | Right – powered with 1 battery and tin foil

This is a useful trick to use if you are short a battery or two but you will lose some brightness.
